The Burks family has been involved with heavy horses for over 50 years.

Jim Burks has owned and breed Shire Horses in Lincolnshire for most of his life, and has had tremendous success in the showing ring under the "Ancholmes" prefix. Jim has also been a member of the Shire Horse Society judging panel for 30 years.

shire clydesdale heavy horse Jim's son Matthew was brought up with heavy horses and successful shown both Shire and Clydesdales in his own right under the "Matthews" prefix. Like his father, Matthew is also a qualified judge, but this as a member of the Clydesdale Society judging panel.
