High RiskLily of the Valley is a small perennial which grows from small underground rhizomes. It grows to about 15cm -25 cm in height. Each plant has two oblong-oval deep dull-green leaves with an arched flower stalk bearing small, fragrant, bell-shaped white flowers. They flower May to June. Later in the summer, lily of the valley may form red berries. It is most often found in gardens in thick beds which spread if not controlled.
Digestive upset, irregular heartbeat, excessive salivation and dilated pupils, mental confusion.
Notes:
Because this plant is mainly found in gardens there have been
few reported cases of fatal poisoning in horses.
